KAHAL connects thousands of Jewish students studying abroad to each other and to exciting opportunities available through the Jewish community. Working in 57 countries, 127 cities, and 254 universities around the world, KAHAL provides students the opportunity to make the most of their study abroad experience by connecting with local Jewish students, families, and organizations.

Through KAHAL, study abroad students have met locals and other Jewish students studying in their city. They have enjoyed Shabbat dinners with local families, gotten involved in volunteer opportunities, participated in High Holiday services and meals, found internships, experienced unique Passover Seders, explored immersive cultural experiences, and more!

Due to COVID-19, most international students have been sent home and are missing the chance to learn and improve their language skills. While this isn’t *exactly* the same as in person, KAHAL has set up KAHALanguages, a Language Exchange to help students keep up their skills as well as “meet” and connect with other Jewish students all over the world!

These are virtual “meet ups”. If you are able to offer some time to teach a language you are fluent in (you don’t have to be native) and you’d like to improve a foreign language, please take a minute to fill out this form!
We make a match based on your preferences, then the virtual meet up is arranged by both of you together to start your exchange! Mostly these will be 1:1 and sometimes as a group, depending on demand. The exchanges can go on as long or as short as you’d like. Think of it like a virtual pen-pal!

Before every semester KAHAL likes to reach out to each student for support before they head off to let them know about the resources and support KAHAL can offer while so far away. This semester we want to make sure students have people to talk to and get support from when times are so uncertain for the travel world. We could not do this without your help. Do you know anyone studying abroad this fall?

We know that the status of the fall semester may be uncertain right now, but we are still looking to reach out to any student who was planning on studying abroad. It is so important now more than ever that we continue to offer support to study abroad students and help them connect with others while we are all stuck at home.
