KAHAL and Connect 123 have partnered to help support Jewish life in their six destinations worldwide. KAHAL works with Connect 123 students and in-country staff to coordinate opportunities for students of all backgrounds to engage in Jewish programming and inter-faith dialogue. The organizations have also co-sponsored a Scholarship for the Jewish Community.

WHAT IS CONNECT 123?

Connect-123 develops and administers international internship and volunteer programs in Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Dublin, Shanghai, and Sydney. In all countries, internship and volunteer work opportunities are hosted by local companies, nonprofit organizations, schools, research institutes, hospitals, and health care clinics.

Connect-123’s experienced, international team advises program participants prior to departure and provides ongoing support and guidance upon arrival in each international city. This includes academic advice and mentoring to hands-on help in case of an emergency.

It was really so amazing to be able to host Shabbat dinner in Cape Town! I love being able to connect to my Jewish roots wherever I go and, considering this is my first summer away from camp in a decade, it brought even more joy and warmth to my experience here and helped fill the gap that I was feeling. Being able to talk about Jewish customs and lifestyles with the other people at dinner, as well as sitting down with them for a great meal, made a trip around the world feel like it was in my own backyard.
