From my time living and traveling all over the world, I’ve learned how important finding a small bit of home can be when everything else around you is new and unfamiliar. I support KAHAL because they provide just that for Jewish students abroad, as well as a way to deepen their sense of global Jewish peoplehood.

My favorite part of traveling with my family when I was growing up was connecting with the local Jewish community--exploring synagogues, joining seders, and getting to learn about the Jewish traditions in each country. Studying abroad in Israel, I was surrounded by Jewish culture, but I knew many of my friends in other countries did not have a similar experience. I'm so happy to be on the KAHAL associate board to help students embrace the unique and insightful opportunity of learning about the differences and similarities of the Jewish culture.

I studied abroad with Semester at Sea in college and I found so much fulfillment in connecting with the Jewish communities during the voyage. I love that KAHAL has formalized these interactions and encourages more students to connect with the global Jewish community.
